When I'm referring to LLM input, I'm talking about the data that is used to interact with the model.

Natural Language

Natural language is the most common type of input for LLMs. It is a way for humans to communicate with the model.

Structured Data

Structured data is data that is organized in a specific way. It is often used in databases and can be used to train LLMs.

Instructions and prompting (can be a combination of NL and structured data)

Instructions and prompting are a type of input that is used to guide the model. They can be used to tell the model what to do or how to do it. More info into this in the How to steer LLMs outputs section.

Feedback

Feedback is a type of input that is used to evaluate the model. It can be used to tell the model how well it is doing or how it can improve.
